All computers and networks require maintenance, whether it is a server or a desktop, periodic reviews of the software configuration provide protection against faults arising. We find that Microsoft Windows based systems cost more to set-up and need more attention to keep them running efficiently.

We prefer to use Linux operating systems because they are, in our opinion more resilient, stable and easier to maintain. In an office network a Linux server can perform all the services you need. They are cheaper to set-up initially, have less ongoing problems to address and require less attention to keep them working efficiently

When we configure desktop computer we take an image of the configuration using a program called 'REDO'. The image is an externally stored copy of the software configuration on that machine. We can then store it safely on our system, store it on your own server should you have one or for a small charge store it on a USB memory stick. These snapshots are particularly useful when the desktop computer is running Microsoft Windows; software issues arising on these operating systems can often lead to prolonged and costly support requirements. With proper data backup procedures and a 'REDO' restore a failed desktop can be restore and fully working again in a very short time.
